Raagopanishad: A Timeless Musical Legacy

Classical music has acquired the position of being the best form of music today specifically because it is first and foremost bhava music - pure and pious. Classical Indian Raagas are like musical tonal color palettes to bring out the emotion or rasa of a specific object being portrayed. In other words, by making use of these Raagas we have the opportunity to manifest specific emotions via music and poetry. A beautiful collection of 36 such Raagas or compositions containing verses set to classical Indian Raagas has just been published by a group composed entirely of Jain saints which are titled, ‘Raagopanishad.’
